Dick DeVos Shifts Support To Marco Rubio

Deciding which candidate should win the nomination for the Republican party as it heads into the 2016 Presidential election is something I have been pondering for some time; the rise of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz has worried many of us who have been Republican supporters for a number of years. At times like these I find it is always a good idea to seek out the opinions of those I have a deep regard for the opinion of in a bid to find out where their allegiances lie. For myself, I recently read an article in the Detroit News detailing the current position Dick DeVos has taken regarding the Republican nomination and his support for Marco Rubio.

I have admired Dick for a number of years after learning about his philanthropic work, and in particular the work he has undertaken to assist the young people of Michigan in getting a better education. Wikipedia reports the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation has been at the forefront of the drive towards increased numbers of charter schools opening across Michigan and the U.S. as a whole.

Betsy shares her approach for creating more quality educational opportunities for children in Detroit.

Alongside the impressive charity work of Dick I have also been impressed by his ability to enter different areas of business and make them a success, such as the turnaround of the Orlando Magic NBA franchise after the DeVos family took control of the team.

In terms of politics, the opinion of Dick DeVos is one I always look for because of his personal history of running for the position of Governor of Michigan.  The battle over the areas around Ohio and Michigan in the 2016 Presidential election has been entering a new phase as John Kasich looks to make gains against Marco Rubio, but the DeVos family is putting its financial backing behind Rubio with donations of more than $250,000. For myself, I believe the decisions made by Dick DeVos regarding Republican nominees for the Presidency have been the correct ones despite the decision by Jeb Bush to drop out of the race following the South Carolina primary.
