As an American trial lawyer Jeff Herman has helped many individuals out. He is someone who specializes in cases that are revolving around victims who have experienced sexual abuse. He is also someone who has been involved with the exposing of a lot of predators and the institutions that try to protect them.
For those of you out there who are fans of the Team USA volleyball player Sarah Powers-Barnhard, and for those of you out there who are fans of the actor Corey Feldman this is the article to read. Both of them have come together as a team in order to support something that they both can agree on, passing the Child Victims Act. The New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators coalition is a coalition that has been talked about for a while now, and it is getting a lot of attention with the Child Victims Act. They are gathering up supporters so that they can get S.809 of the Child Victims Act passed. Corey Feldman, Sarah Powers-Barnhard, and Jeff Herman of The Herman Law Group are under the impression that if they are endorsing this bill they will be able to make a difference in how many people pay attention, and they also hope to keep it from getting thrown out.
By creating this bill these guys are really going to make a huge difference in the way things work, and that can be either good or bad (depending on who you are). This Senate bill is sponsored by Brad Hoylman, D-Manhattan, and it is going to be used for those that are involved in any sexual abuse cases. The bill will be taking out the criminal and civil statutes of limitations that are in New York state. On top of all of that this bill will also be able to provide a window that lasts one year for civil action lawsuits that are time-barred (this can even be used for cases that are as much as 50 years old) to be heard before the courts.
